Weeks 5-6: Pivoting Towards Practicality In Practice

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

What are the three P's of shifting gears? Pivoting--Practicality--Practice. That is how I can sum up the last few weeks. When we have needed to pivot, we found what makes sense and is practical, then we put it into practice. This has been the case for a few of the facets of my DFW (Research, Programming).

Research: The research team has decided to create the study in three phases. This was finally decided with the help of Dr. J. Elizabeth Mills, and other faculty that we consulted with, related to the human subject study and what that should entail. We have narrowed down the scope of how and what we will do in terms of study methods, which have been laid out in the IRB application. Our aim is to get phase one wrapped up in November, start phase two soon thereafter, and then onto phase three in the spring.

Programming: Because of low enrollment in the e-camps, there will only be ONE camp per day instead of two, as planned. Our online camp is competing with many other camps that are being offered in person. We have about 10 campers signed up so far for camp in week one, and we hope to get some more for week two in late August.

Marketing continues to be supported by all of the DFW students and we are learning a lot about own voices childrens books.
