Weeks 7,8, & 9: Wrapping Up

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

The last three weeks were spent primarily on putting the finishing touches on programming, trying out the crafts on our own so that we could fix any glitches, having a packing party, tie dye

our staff Rama t-shirts, and learning the songs. The first week of camp went well. Campers online were engaged 100% of the time, which is what Read-a-Rama strives to do. Week nine was spent getting ready for an in-person one day camp at the Compass House at Dexter family living center in Seattle Washington. The turn out was good, and campers got to learn some new songs, dances, listen to stories, and make incredible marshmallow launchers from crafting materials.

As we wrap up the end of the DFW, we continue to plan and put the final touches on one more camp that we will lead for children online next week. It's called "Tunes and Tales", where campers will learn how to compose a song, build their own instruments out of common household items, and get into reading what they like!

Marketing support has come to an end, and Research is still on-going. I plan to stay on the research team throughout the year as long as time allows. I would like to see the whole process through and perhaps help with interviews down the road.

As I enter into the fall quarter at UW, I will start the Capstone process, and I have been selected by Dr. Michelle Martin to be a part of the capstone team with Read-a-Rama content and curriculum development. I am excited to continue the work that is being done with Read-a-Rama and the community we serve!
